ReK2 @rek2

Anyone knows of a decentralized video site like github.com/Chocobozzz/PeerTube ? we are planning in moving out of youtube so want to research options.

@trwnh we can that is no problem, just looking for options.

@rek2 self-hosting is about all i can recommend. you can just link to them directly on your server, like most people do, or you can use a frontend like peertube which lets you serve them through activitypub

@trwnh installing as I write this. :)

@rek2 if you're looking for "options" then you can browse through this list of self-hosted software :) github.com/Kickball/awesome-se

@trwnh I like peertube since is federated.

@rek2 Yeah. There's also MediaGoblin but that's not video-specific and still uses pump.io, not ActivityPub

@rek2 peertube needs WebRTC, which is dangerous for anonimity.

@shevek in this particular case we do not care about that aspect, hell we are in the videos :) is more against censorship, ethically and to not support youtube etc.

@rek2 😜

@rek2 wasnt popcorn time a p2p network player for copyrighted stuff? Vimeo is centralised but a good first move. Torrents?

@rek2 Haven't tried it myself, but I've heard good things about lbry.io

@eo i see no diff tech wise between bitchute and peertube other than peertube is federated such I like if it comes down to those options..

@rek2 bitchute is closed source while peertube is open source, thats all that differs i think

@eo yeah def doing opensource > closed also decentralization is important for me, and we do not need privacy for this project since the videos is a video podcast with our public profiles

@rek2 its a podcast? make sure to link me to it when you upload

@eo we been doing it on youtube for a bit more than a year, we never wanted to use youtube but was the easiest and though if we actually get interest then we move.. so we at that point to move out of it now youtube.com/channel/UCkCOvN-YK is in Spanish but some interviews are in English like with BernieS and Captain Crunch, Cooper from hackbloc and some other peeps at defcon
