everyone I know is finally migrating to gitlab and private git repos.
@rek2 Gitlab is hosted on Microsoft Azure. Go private, please. And gently suggest them study problems harder.

@h what are good options for private repos with interface etc like github? I know some time a go there was 1-2 around but forgot the name
@rek2 Gitea, Gitlab, and Gogs are the ones for which source code is available under Free and/or Open licences.
Each have pros and cons, take a look at my timeline over the past 24 hours, I've been tooting all about the options.
Self-hosting is advisable, or use one of the indy coops who run git hosting services where possible.

@rek2 Yes, but I wouldn't be discouraged by that. When projects begin they are practically forced to be there to interact with other programmers.
I don't see that as hypocritical, not more than it's hypocritical for an anticapitalist to use capitalist currency.
